Mullen Group reports $21M Q1 profit, revenue up 10 per cent from year earlier

Trucking and logistics firm Mullen Group Ltd. says it earned $21.0 million in its first quarter

OKOTOKS — Trucking and logistics firm Mullen Group Ltd. says it earned $21.0 million in its first quarter as acquisitions helped boost revenue 10 per cent.

The Alberta-based company says the profit amounted to 22 cents per diluted share for the quarter ended March 31.

The result was up from a profit of $17.7 million or 20 cents per share in the same quarter last year.

On an adjusted basis, Mullen Group says it earned 20 cents per share in its latest quarter, down from an adjusted profit of 21 cents per share a year earlier.

Revenue for the quarter totalled $547.7 million, up from $497.1 million in its first quarter last year.

Murray Mullen, the company’s chair and senior executive officer, says general market conditions showed signs of improving, with demand holding steady and a tightening in supply in several sectors of the trucking and logistics industry.
