Focus: Canadian and global large caps

Top Picks: Microsoft, Taiwan Semiconductor, Visa

MARKET OUTLOOK:

Markets are navigating a more uncertain environment than we’ve seen in a while. Geopolitical tensions, elevated energy prices, and questions around the path of inflation and interest rates are all weighing on sentiment. That said, we think the volatility is creating pockets of opportunity for patient, disciplined investors.

Earnings growth is still positive, corporate balance sheets are generally healthy, and some high-quality names have been caught up in the broader selloff. We’re focused on companies with durable competitive advantages and strong cash generation that can perform across a range of macro scenarios. Stock selection matters more than ever this year.

TOP PICKS:

Dan Rohinton's Top Picks: Microsoft, Taiwan Semiconductor & Visa Dan Rohinton, vice president & portfolio manager at iA Global Asset Management, shares his top stock picks to watch in the market.

Microsoft (MSFT NASD)

Microsoft has pulled back over 30 per cent from its highs, creating an attractive entry point. Cloud revenue topped US$50 billion in a quarter for the first time, Azure is still growing north of 35 per cent, and operating margins near 47 per cent lead mega-cap tech. The market is punishing them for AI capex but we think that spending positions them as the dominant platform. Cheapest it’s been since early 2023.

Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM NYSE)

TSMC controls about 72 per cent of the global foundry market with no real competitor at the leading edge. Revenue grew 36 per cent in 2025 and the CEO raised artificial intelligence (AI) accelerator growth guidance to over 50 per cent compound through 2029. Every major hyperscaler depends on them. You’re buying a toll road on the entire AI buildout.

Visa (V NYSE)

Visa is near 52-week lows, down about 11 per cent year-to-date. First quarter fiscal revenue grew 15 per cent with margins near 68 per cent. The cash-to-digital shift still has a long runway and they’re expanding into stablecoins across 100 plus countries. Capital-light model with exceptional cash generation. The selloff is macro-driven, not fundamental.
